Cities of the Synods

DAY 1: ARRIVAL ISTANBUL
Flight to Istanbul. Transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Istanbul.

DAY 2: ISTANBUL
Full day city tour with visit to the most important Byzantine churches, including Hagia Sophia, built by Emperor Justinian, the Chora Church. After lunch, visit the Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace (once the headquarters) of the Ottoman sultans, to inspect the rich historical collections. In the evening return to hotel, dinner, overnight in Istanbul.

DAY 3: ISTANBUL - BURSA
In the morning drive to Iznik (Niceia), the ancient capital of the Byzantine Empire in exile while Constantinople was occupied by the Latins in Constantinople and the 1st Ecumenical Council in 325, and Empress Irene in 787 the Seventh Ecumenical Council could meet. Visit the Hagia Sophia from the 4th Yrs. Continuing to Bursa and visit the Grand Mosque, Green Mausoleum and Green Mosque. Overnight in Bursa.

DAY 4: BURSA - KUSADASI
In the morning departure and a short visit to Apolyont, a small fishing village on a lake. Continuing to Pergamum (Rev 2, 12-17) and visit the Acropolis with your sanctuaries, and, of Asklepieons that was in the ancient healing a major site. Continue via Izmir, ancient Smyrna (Rev. 2.8) to Selcuk-Kusadasi. Overnight in Kusadasi area.

DAY 5: KUSADASI
Tour of Ephesus, (Acts 18, 19-24, 19, 20,16-17; 1 Corinthians 15:32; 16.8; Ephesians letter, 1 Timothy 1:3; 2 Timothy 1:18; 4 , 12 Rev. 1,11; Rev. 2.1; 3rd Ecumenical Council Meeting) with the Celsus Library, the exterior columns, the theater and the agora. Then visit the Basilica of St. John and the Marienhausen on Nightingale Mountain. Overnight in Kusadasi area.

DAY 6: KUSADASI - PAMUKKALE
Drive through the Meander valley to visit the ancient city of Aphrodisias, and, in the ancient world known for its philosophers, doctors and sculptor schools. On the way visit of Laodicea (Rev. 3:14; Colossians 4:16) and Next-ride to Pamukkale and visit with its calcium formations of Pamukkale. Overnight in Pamukkale Thermal Hotel.

DAY 7 : PAMUKKALE - ANTALYA
Morning tour of the necropolis and the ancient city of Hierapolis. Then drive along the road and visit a Tavas Teppichknüpfschule. Continuing through the Taurus mountains, the abode of the nomads in the summer. Arrival and overnight in Antalya region.

DAY 8: DEPARTURE
Transfer to the airport and return.
